Vada Pav

ree

Ingredients:


  • Mashed Potatoes – 1.5 cups

  • Oil – 2 tsp

  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp

  • Asafetida – ¼ tsp

  • Curry Leaves – 5-7 nos

  • Ginger – ½ tbsp

  • Green Chilli – ½ tbsp

  • Garlic – ½ tbsp

  • Turmeric Powder – a pinch

  • Salt to taste

  • Coriander – 2 tbsp (finely chopped)

  • Oil – ½ tsp for cooking


For Batter:


  • Besan – ¾ cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric Powder – a pinch

  • Water – ¼ cup

Pav Buns and chutney for serving


Method:


  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. 

  • Add the asafetida and curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds.

  • Add ginger, green chilles and garlic and sauté on medium flame for a few more seconds.

  • Add potato, salt and turmeric and sauté for 1 minute.

  • Add the coriander and mix well. Remove from flame and keep aside to cool.

  • Divide into 4 equal portions and shape it like a vada using your palms.

  • Mix the ingredients for batter and have it ready.Dip the vada mixture in the batter and place them on a hot pan. Drizzle little oil over the vada and cook on both sides. Remove from tawa. Toast the pav buns, spread chutney over the pav and place the vada in between and serve.
