TOMATO PAPPU

INGREDIENTS:


  • Tomato - 3 nos

  • Onion -1 no

  • Ghee - 1 tsp

  • Chillies - 2 no

  • Cooked tur dal - 1 cup

  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp

  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp

  • Curry leaves - few

  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp

  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp

  • Coriander leaves - few

METHOD:


  • Take washed dal in a pressure cooker, add 1 ½ cups of water.. Let it cook for 5-6 whistles on medium heat.Dal should be cooked, soft and almost mushy.

  • Heat the ghee in a pan . Once hot add mustard seeds, then add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.Now add sliced onions, sprinkle some salt to speed up the process.

  • Cook till onions turn brown. Then add ginger paste, garlic paste and slit green chilies.

  • Now add chopped tomatoes and curry leaves. Mix well and add salt.

  • Cook till tomatoes get soft. Add red chilli and turmeric powder. Mix and cook for a minute. 

  • Now add the cooked dal and another ½ cup of water. Miz well and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Garnish with coriander leaves. Stir well, and turn off the stove.
