INGREDIENTS


  • Toor Dal – ¼ cup

  • Tomatoes – 2

  • Turmeric powder – pinch

  • Tamarind -  as per taste

  • Jiggery – 1 tsp

  • Salt – as per taste

  • Coriander leaves – few (finely chopped)

  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

  • Asafoetida – pinch

  • Curry leaves – few


For grinding

  • Red chilli – 2-4 nos

  • Coriander seeds – 2 tsp

  • Cumin seeds – ½ tsp

  • Fenugreek seeds and Black pepper – ¼ tsp each

  • Cinnamon – ¼ inch

  • Mustard seeds – pinch

  • Curry leaves – few

  • Oil – 1 tsp

  • Grated coconut – ¼ cup


INSTRUCTIONS


  • Roast all the ingredients mentioned under grinding except coconut with little oil, then add coconut and grind to smooth paste.

  • Cook toor dal in cooker and mash it. To that add chopped tomatoes and cook till soft. Add the ground paste, tamarind extract, salt, jiggery, required water and bring to boil. Switch off add coriander leaves and temper with oil, red chilli, curry leaves and asafoetida.
