HESARU BELE THOVE/ MOONG DAL GRAVY FOR IDLY

INGREDIENTS


  • Moong dal – ¼ cup

  • Tomato – 1 small

  • Turmeric -  pinch

  • Green  chilli – 2 nos

  • Red chilli – 2 nos.

  • Ginger – ½ inch

  • Coriander leaves – few (chopped)

  • Salt – as per taste

  • Water – 2 cups

  • Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp

  • Oil -2 tsp

  • Asafoetida – pinch

  • Curry leaves – 4-5 nos

For Grinding


  • Grated coconut – ½ cup

  • Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Cook Green gram dal in pressure cooker with water and pinch of turmeric powder. Grind coconut and mstard seeds to a smooth paste by adding required water

  • To the cooked dal, add chopped tomatoes, slit green chilli and cook til tomatoes are soft and mushy.

  • Add the grounded paste, salt, water to the cooked dal and tomato and bring to a boil.

  • Garnish with coriander leaves and temper it with oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves
