INGREDIENTS:
Tamarind - 500g
Green chillies - 4 nos
Red chillies - 3 no
Mustard seeds - 1tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Chana dal - 1 tbsp
Methi - ½ tsp
Hing - ¼ tsp
sugar/ jaggery - ½ tsp
Oil - as required
Curry leaves
Turmeric - 1 tsp
METHOD:
Select fresh tamarind and grind them in a coarse paste add salt and turmeric and store it in a container. After 3 days again grind it in a paste and keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, jeera. When they start spluttering add urad dal and chana dal. Fry until they turn golden brown add green chillies and red chillies.
Grind these ingredients in to a fine mixture. Then add chintakaya thokku to it and grind it into a smooth paste add sugar/ jaggery while grinding.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds to crackle add hing and switch off the flame. Add the tadka to the pachadi.
Your thokku is ready.
