BEANS PARUPPU USILI

INGREDIENTS:


  • Beans - 1 cup

  • Tur dal - ⅓ cup

  • Bengal gram dal - 1 cup

  • Red chilli - 1 no

  • Green chilli - 2 no

  • Turmeric powder - ½ tsp

  • Oil - as required

  • Salt - to taste

  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

  • Asafoetida - a pinch

  • Curry leaves - few


METHOD:

  • Cook beans with salt until soft adding needed water and keep it aside.

  • Wash and soak tur dal and bengal dal for 1 hour. Drain the water completely and grind it with red chillies, green chillies, turmeric powder and salt.

  • Steam the coarsely ground dal for 15 mins. Once cooked crumble the dal with your hands.

  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, hing and curry leaves. Add the crumbled dal and mix well and cook for 2 minutes. Switch off the flame.

  • Add the cooked beans to the dal and mix well. Cook for another 2 minutes.

  • Your beans paruppu usili is ready.
