PAVAKKAI PITLAI

INGREDIENTS:


  • Bitter gourd - 2 nos

  • Moong dal - 2 tbsp

  • Chana dal - 2 tbsp

  • Tamarind - 1 tsp

  • Turmeric - ¼ tsp

  • Coconut grated - ¼ cup

  • Salt - as required

  • Red chillies - 2 no

  • Coconut (grated) - ¼  tsp

  • Peppercorns - ½ tsp

  • Oil - as required

  • Salt - as required

  • Coriander seeds - 1 tsp


METHOD:


  • Soak the tamarind in water and extract the juice.

  • Cook the bitter gourd and dal and keep it aside.

  • Pour the oil in the plan and fry the chilli, coriander seeds, pepper till the dals turn golden brown, To the pan add grated coconut , curry leaves, hing and fry till its golden brown take the fried ingredients in a mixer and keep it aside.

  • Pour the oil in the pan add mustard seeds once the oil is hot, add curry leaves, tamarind extract and salt allow it to boil and add this to fried bitter gourd 

  • Add the grounded paste to pavvakai pitalai starts boiling switch off the flame.

  • Serve hot.
